Atletico Madrid agree three new partnerships in the Americas
Chicago Fire, Internacional de Porto Alegre and Club America of Mexico join the Club project
Tuesday September 20, 2011 was another historic day for Atletico Madrid and all the clubs that are part of the new international strategic alliance.
Following the agreements signed in areas of Asia, the Middle East and Africa, the Club has taken an important step in the development of its international expansion projects, closing deals with three teams in the Americas.
A few months ago the club set out to identify those who would be their allies in the U.S., Mexico and Brazil, choosing Chicago Fire, Club America and the Sport Club Internacional de Porto Alegre, three reference entities in their respective leagues, who have shown particular interest and enthusiasm in getting involved in this ambitious process.
The number of partners has risen to 8 and the Alliance has expanded its scope throughout the world, as the framework for all member clubs achieve presence and scale in key markets across Europe, Asia, Middle East and Latin America.
Following the signing of cooperation agreements, it was decided that Porto Alegre was the place to formalise the agreements reached. Thus, the three clubs in the American zone gathered with the club in the Brazilian town, to lay the groundwork for future collaboration.
The CEO of the Club, Miguel Angel Gil Marin, and the Director General of Marketing and International Development, Emilio Gutierrez, traveled to Brazil to witness the execution of the agreement, which took place on the morning of Tuesday in the Breira-Rio Stadium, defining the guidelines to be followed by all members.
The Brazilians hosted the important meeting that sealed the union between the new clubs and Atletico Madrid and was attended by all representatives of the Club, from its chairman, Giovanni Luigi, the Vice Luis Anapia Gomes, Dannie Dubin, Gelson Luicano Davi Pires, Advisor to the President, Maximilian Charlemagne, as well as the Technical Director Lucio da Costa, Director of Marketing, Jorge Avancini and Chief Financial Officer Milton Stela.
The agenda of this meeting provided an intense day of work in which they analysed the principles and philosophy of the Alliance of clubs as well as the objectives to be achieved through it, and then establish a joint working methodology agreeing on the implementation of various global models, both in sports, commercial and communication between all the clubs.
Two years ago Club Atletico Madrid struck a deal with Shanghai Shenhua of China and then, last year, with the United Muangthong of Thailand (twice champions), Al Ain UAE, and the Raja Casablanca (Morocco champions), who have now been joined by Sport Club Internacional de Porto Alegre, Chicago Fire and Club America of Mexico
With the signing of these three agreements, the Alliance teams provide an important bridge to the American market, and countries with enormous potential as the United States, Mexico and Brazil, so that new and interesting scenarios can be explored in the coming months for member clubs. The clubs play in 8 leagues in Spain, China, Thailand, UAE, Morocco and now Brazil, the United States and Mexico.
